A maximum of 4 hardening levels per different weapon count towards the achievement. It is therefore absolutely useless to buy and harden the dagger countless times. This will not make the achievement more expensive in terms of BloodDrops / MoonCoins, but it will make it more expensive in terms of in-game gold; in addition, the individual levels will only be available gradually, as there are simply not enough different weapons at level 2, for example.
